Health ministry in a faith community is an approach to wholeness and health that builds on strengths of the parish community. It stresses wellness, health promotion and disease prevention by encompassing parish community resources and partnerships. An example would be blood pressure screenings after each mass. Health Ministry focuses on body, mind, and spirit for the health and healing of the community. A health ministry supports the idea that one’s faith and outlook are integral to the healing and health of the body. Clearly, the parables of Jesus’s healing ministry reveal this relationship.
You can be a participant in this health ministry. We invite health care providers, nurses, social workers, therapists, nonmedical parishioners, health advocates and any one interested in serving our parish in the care of ourselves and others. Together we are able to walk with others through transitions of life, encourage spiritual growth and find a language of hope through the healing power of Jesus.
